Well the Calgary Expo 2014 came and went and it was SO FUN. Not only did I sell SO MUCH art, but I definitely enjoyed having my 'nose up' meeting and chatting with all sorts of fans instead of 'nose down' drawing.
Basically I decided to price myself high for commissions so I wouldn't get any... I don't want to create more work for myself in this busy time of year, so instead I kept my print prices low and sold a ton of my existing work, and gave myself the chance to chat to everyone and anyone who came by.... It was so worth it, I don't think I will offer a commission rate next year at all.
The Calgary Expo is a WORLD CLASS EVENT. Anyone reading who doesn't know where Calgary is or thinks it's small beans THINK AGAIN.... This con is HUGE, clocking in at a whopping 97,000 attendees! I think it ranks #3 or 4 for the largest cons in North America, behind San Diego, New York and possibly Toronto. So, next year, plan a visit to our beautiful city and take it all in! I'm already thinking about what prints to bring.....
